Healthcare, Vaccinations and Worming (Skin / Sarcoid)
At Malton Equine, we prioritize the overall well-being of your horse through a proactive and personalized healthcare approach. Vaccination is a cornerstone of preventive medicine, and we offer a range of vaccinations to shield your equine companion from common and potentially serious diseases. Our vaccination protocols cover influenza, tetanus, EHV 1+4, rotavirus, strangles, and lawsonia. If you’re uncertain about your horse’s specific needs, our knowledgeable veterinarians are here to provide expert advice and guidance.

Compliance with regulatory standards, such as those set by the FEI and BHA, is integral to the health and participation of competitive horses. We assist horse owners in adhering to vaccination timing requirements stipulated by these organizations. For FEI-regulated events, a first vaccination is followed by a second one 21-92 days later, with the third vaccine administered within 7 months after the second.

Yearly boosters are essential, with a competitive window of 6 months +21 days post-vaccination. Horses must refrain from competition for 7 days following vaccination. BHA-regulated events follow a similar pattern, with a first vaccination followed by a second 21-60 days later, the third by 120-180 days, and boosters no longer than six months apart.

In addition to vaccination, we recognize the significance of addressing skin diseases that can impact your horse’s overall happiness. Whether it’s managing itchy skin or tackling sarcoids, our experienced veterinarians are well-versed in treating a variety of dermatological conditions. We provide timely advice on when to take action and recommend appropriate treatments, ensuring the optimal health and contentment of your equine partner. Trust us to be your dedicated partners in promoting the health, longevity, and happiness of your cherished horse.

Emergency veterinary attention for your horse may be required at any time of the day or night. We provide veterinary care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to registered clients.
